LAPAN is the national space agency of Indonesia and is a non ministrial agency in Indonesian government in charge of carrying out government duties in the field of aerospace, both in research and development, and utilization. The core competency of LAPAN including Space and Atmospheric Science, Remote Sensing, Aerospace Technology, and Aeronautic and Space Policy Studies. LAPAN was formed in 1963 by Presidential Decree (Decree) No 236 of 1963 on the Space agency (LAPAN). The Agancy is domiciled in Jakarta and its head office is registered at Jl Pemuda Persil No 1 Jakarta 13220. Since 2011, the Chairman of LAPAN is Bambang Tedjasukmana Setiawan.
